OAKLAND

Oakland is almost half million population city across the Bay from San Francisco
We spent here three Christmas days in December, 09. Just walked through with cameras on the ready.
One of Oakland's most notable features is Lake Merritt near downtown, the largest urban saltwater
lake in the United States. (Lake Merritt is technically an estuary of San Francisco Bay, not a lake).
There's an absolutely new glass Church of Christ the Light on the bank. Also, Jack London lived here,
there is his house brought from Klondike, square named by him, monument and so on.
The city was destroyed many times by earthquakes, the largest city wildfire in the US happened here too
in 1991, 4,000 houses were burned away.
